What is a niche and why the heck does it matter? A niche is similar to a genre or category and it can be narrow or very broad. "Dog grooming" is a more specific niche that "animal supplies," and "soft bristle dog grooming brushes" is an even more specific category or niche.
The area of focus for a store can be super general, similar to a Target, Walmart or COSTCO compared to a general store such as Radioshack or a single product iPhone battery store hosted on Shopify.
Finding a Winning Product
A winning product is a product that is marketable to the masses. And especially a product that is not saturated, a product that can be scaled for profit sales. Not every product is a winning product unfortunately. A product with too much competition, too much price fluctuation, or low interest is considered a risk. Do your research to come out on top.
Creating your Store
An online store is less risk than a brick and mortar shop, and dropshipping is primarily an online game. Consider where you want to host as well as prices and time ranges (weeks, months, years) of a domain name. Researching your domain name and assuring the stability of the hosting site of your online store is key. Nobody wants an online shop that always crashes on Black Friday or that cannot connect to server in peak hours.
Making Money
Other than the joy of creativity and productivity, ultimately a store is set up with hopes that a seller and make a reasonable profit. Consider the platforms you use, how you market your ads, and options for local or international shipping.
What have your experiences been with dropshipping if any? Can you think of any additional methods to enhance roi or to avoid potential setbacks?
